wedding color dilemma

So this was my first idea... aqua blue, yellow, and orange. Summery, bright, and fun!
I'm thinking a gray suit for Brian... so make this groom's tie yellow and I love it!

But then again, I also love the navy color with the yellow... but maybe too dark for summer?

What about adding in a little more gray? Instead of blue? I don't know!

So, I really love this bouquet... it just needs some gerber daisies!

Happy Green Day

I was at the mental health clinic this morning and we had a St. Patrick's Day party... the mentally disturbed people made up a song and I thought it was cute so I'm going to share it with you...

Sung to the tune of JINGLE BELLS...!

Looking for a rainbow... on a sunny shamrock day,
A shiny coin you'll find, if you go that way!

Leprechauns are near, dressed in festive green,
hiding pots of lucky gold, 'tis true they can't be seen, OH!

Leprechauns, leprechauns, Ireland all the way
Running here and jumping there throughout St. Patricks Day... Hey!

Leprechauns, leprechauns, hope you find their gold,
Catch a lucky leprechaun before you grow too old!

They're pretty creative, huh?!

Lent

I am going to practice a traditional Lent sacrifice activity this year. I am going to give up something for 40 days (until Easter).

No, I'm not Catholic.

But yes, I think it's a great idea to give up something important to you for a while - a sacrifice if you will.

I thought a while about what I wanted to do and couldn't decide between 2 things so I have decided to do both. Brian is going to do them with me (so wish us luck!)

#1: I am giving up my vice - desserts!! Sometimes I try to only eat them on Sundays, but for the next 40 days it will be none at all. No cookies, cake, brownies, candy, ice-cream (eeee!), chocolate, etc. I think after I quit having made cravings, it will be quite rewarding (not only for self-mastery, but for general health reasons as well!).

#2: I am giving up complaining. I don't consider myself a huge complainer, but I do find myself talking about how tired I am or how much I have to do or how much I don't like homework or how I wish I was at the beach or how I hate soggy shoes in the snow.... etc. Do I really need to say those things? Nope. And I think by not saying them, I will probably not even think them as much. I recognize that I will probably not be perfect at this at first, but I can try my hardest and who knows... maybe after 40 days I won't have the tendency to complain anymore! YEAH!

So, I am excited for this. Lent is a good thing for me this year. Yeah! But you can bet I'll be enjoying lots of chocolate on Easter ;)!

details...!

Many of you have asked when and where we will be tying the knot... So, here's the information that I know right now (with more details to come of course!)..

When: June 25th (it's the last Saturday in June)
Where:The wedding will probably be either in the Salt Lake Temple or Mt. Timp - I've heard that the Jordan River temple is a great place as well (not so busy)... but basically what I am saying is that it will be in Utah in some beautiful temple :)

The reception will be that same day at a cute little place in Provo. So, there's the info I know for right now. If anyone has any wedding planning advice, hook me up! I'm so excited!!!

I'm engaged!

Brian and I are engaged! Yep, I get to marry my best friend :). He asked me today at lunch. Yep, at lunch - so of course it was totally unexpected! Who proposes at lunch? Haha. I love it. So, the story is pretty good... It begins with Brian asking me yesterday if I wanted to go out to lunch today. Of course I said yes - I love lunch dates! So after I got back from Salt Lake this afternoon, he came and picked me up :). Only... we didn't go ouuut to lunch, we picnicked instead! He knows that I love picnics! We went up to a cool place we've been a few times before that looks like a castle but is really an outdoor ampitheater....

He brought blankets and a whole duffel bag full of food - salad, bread, chicken, and the most delicious pasta ever (with homemade cheese alfredo sauce that he made). Mmm mmm delish. I was beginning to think that something was up as I saw how much effort he had put into this lunch. Afterall - it was a picnic! Well... now comes the good part...

He said that it was time for dessert and pulled out some granola bars, oranges, and a can of pineapple slices (he knew I had been trying to eat healthy lately). I honestly could barely even finish lunch, let alone start on dessert... but he said he wanted some pineapple and asked nicely if I would open it up for him. So, I did. Only, I didn't find pineapple inside... I found tissue paper and a cute little box. I'm sure you can guess what was inside that cute little box - the most beautiful ring ever! He got down on one knee, asked me nicely to stand up, and asked me to be his forever and ever. I said yes of course! I don't think I've ever heard of anyone finding their ring inside of a pineapple can. Hahaha. That's Brian for you! It was so cute. He had even put weights inside so that it would feel like the same weight as a real can of pineapple. He told me he did it by cutting off the bottom with a special can opener, cleaning it out, putting the ring and stuff in, and then sealing it up, replacing the label, and voila! - the perfect ring holder... who knew? :)

So now, I am officially engaged to the most wonderful guy ever! I love him! It has been quite the adventure telling everyone - thanks for all of the congratulations! We are just so happy and excited to spend our lives together!

That wasn't any ordinary can of pineapple slices!

believe it or not, it actually looks better in person!!

I'm feeling very domestic

I came home from school today and all I wanted to do was domesticy things! Now this may or may not be a result of my lack of desire to do homework, but it also stemmed from walking into a... less than clean welcoming apartment. Let me tell you... one and a half hours later, decluttering galore, the smell of fresh-baked lemon poppy seed muffins and I am FEELING GOOD! Oh, and I am also doing laundry and have the dishwasher going. Oh yeah. Domestic

I just sat here on the couch, looked around, and gave a big sigh of relief. Too bad I don't feel this way more often.
